Product Warranty
Freight Damage Policy
ProSteel warrants your safe to be free from defective materials and workmanship for five years from the original purchase, except for the combination lock (which carries a five-year warranty from the lock manufacturer) and any electrical or lighting accessories (which have a 90-day warranty). Should disaster strike, your investment in a Browning safe is protected by the best warranty in the gun safe industry – a lifetime warranty that covers attempted break-ins, actual break-ins, and fire. If your Browning safe is involved in one of the situations above and your homeowner’s insurance policy does not cover the damage to the safe, Browning Safes will repair or replace it. (Safe contents are not covered.) No other brand lives up to our uncompromising standards and the combination of precision construction and proprietary security technology that elevate Browning Safes above the rest.
Please reach out to us if you would like to customize your safes. All safes customized through the selection of paint, hardware color, locking mechanism, graphic scenes, or other changes that make the safe unique are subject to the 15% restocking fee if the order is canceled for any reason once work on its construction has begun.
Product FAQs
Browning Product FAQs
1) Are electronic locks vulnerable to EMP attacks?
S&G’s Spartan electromechanical locks are EMP-resistant. S&G released study data regarding its electromechanical locks and has confirmed their ability to properly open in the event of an electromagnetic-pulse (EMP) attack or solar incident. S&G went beyond standard testing and used an EMP exposure of 50 kV/m – the US military’s highest EMP impact standard as found in MIL-STD 461F, Method RS105. At the end of the testing series, the S&G locks were still fully functional. Our SECURAM electromechanical and biological safe locks are certified EMP Resistant, having completed the US Military’s most extreme EMP testing.Â
2) Do electronic locks come with a key backup?
Browning Safes only uses UL-listed electromechanical safe locks, which do not come with a key backup because they are designed to be secure and tamper-proof. A key backup could create a security vulnerability, as someone could gain access to the safe without needing the combination. Additionally, having a key backup would defeat the purpose of having a combination lock in the first place.
3) What does the warranty cover?
(Safe contents are not covered.) No other brand lives up to our uncompromising standards and the combination of precision construction and proprietary security technology that elevate Browning Safes above the rest
4) How much does it cost to get the safe delivered?
We have several delivery options. If you pick up your safe from a local dealer, there are no additional delivery costs. If you wish to have your safe delivered to your home, we have several options ranging from curbside delivery to complete installation, including bolt down and setup. Your Browning ProSteel safe is very heavy, and extreme care should be used when moving this or any other large, heavy item to avoid injury to yourself or others. We strongly recommend using a professional mover to deliver or move your safe
5) Can I put scenes on any safe?
Browning Safes offers 12 different graphic scenes you can choose from for placement on their Platinum, Medallion, Silver, Pinnacle, Prestige, and Deluxe safes. These graphics are also available on Vault Doors.
6) Where can I get specifications for a vault door installation?
Browning Safes provides installation guides for all the vault and security doors that we sell. The complete list is in our Resources page. Click the resources menu in our header and then click "Vault Door Installation Instructions".
7) What is Browning Safes policy regarding master reset codes?
Customer service and serial number identification
ProSteel identifies each safe we manufacture by a serial number. This serial number allows us to understand the make, model, and production date of manufacturing and preset combination of the safe. The lock is tested with the combination in the manufacturing process to ensure the lock works correctly.
The serial number allows us to execute our limited warranty on the lock and lifetime warranty on break-in, attempted break-in or damage relating to a fire. It allows us to help the customer gain access when damage has occurred. Thousands of customers have utilized our customer service to help them gain access to their safe when they have forgotten the combination, are unsure of how the lock works or simply need help accessing the contents they have placed in their safe. We can only do that through the serial number.
For fifty years, ProSteel has not asked customers to register their safe in advance of needing service. Within the last several months we have made this an option for those customers that want to make themselves known to us in case they need assistance in the future. We will continue to give customers this option.
ProSteel will help customers gain access to their safe when all steps have been adhered to in validating them as the rightful owner of the safe. See our “Safe Combination Request Form” on our website, www.BrowningSafes.com.
We would never provide any third party, including law enforcement, with our customers confidential safe access codes unless compelled to do so by valid court order. After a review by our legal counsel and verification of the legality of the warrant or subpoena, ProSteel will then comply with the court order. Executive management will make the decision on disclosing the combination for any legally issued subpoena or search warrant when ProSteel is specifically named.
Our customers have the right to remove the serial number from the safe if they so choose, making it impossible for us to provide any assistance in restoring the combination. This also could affect the warranty on the safe. If a customer chooses to and asks ProSteel to delete their serial number from our system, we will, but this would also void the warranty as we would no longer have the ability to help the customer gain access to their safe.
At ProSteel Security Products, Inc., we value and respect the Constitution and our customers privacy rights.
